Let Loose 4 Lindsay

All money raised will go to COTA in honor of the Briggs Family to help with transplant-related expenses due to Lindsay’s hospital stay since October of 2018.

For those of you that do not know Lindsay personally, let me tell you about her and her family. Lindsay has lived in Carver since she was born. She is the daughter of Katie Vanasse. She has 3 siblings, Ashley “Bea” Briggs, Mackenzie “Harry” Briggs, and Emily Briggs. Lindsay and Ashley were born with Cystic Fibrosis, a disorder that damages the lungs and digestive system. Ashley “Bea” Briggs passed away in March of 2017 due to complications from CF.

A little over ten years ago, Lindsay received her first life-saving double lung transplant in Pittsburgh, PA. This past summer, Lindsay, her family and friends celebrated her 10 year Lungaversary. Since the summer, Lindsay’s health had declined. In October, she was admitted into a Boston hospital and her team of doctors from Boston and Pittsburgh decided she was in need of a second double lung transplant. Due to her declining health and CF, Lindsay needed to be med-flighted to Pittsburgh, PA, in late December, where her transplant team of doctors are. In February, Lindsay got her second double lung transplant. Lindsay was recently released from the hospital and is currently staying at a hotel near the hospital with her mother, Katie. She needs to stay in Pittsburgh until she becomes stronger and healthier. She is also still going to the hospital to receive dialysis treatment 3-4 times a week to keep her body clear of toxins that her kidneys cannot clear. Lindsay will need a kidney transplant once she is healthy enough.

Her mother Katie has been by her side since she was admitted into the hospital in November. She had to take a leave of absence from her job at Carver Elementary School. Katie has been a special education paraprofessional at the elementary school for 19 years. She has dedicated her life to taking care of others.

Please join us in supporting COTA in honor of Lindsay and her family!

The Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) helps children and young adults who need a life-saving transplant by providing fundraising assistance and family support. COTA is the nation’s only fundraising organization solely dedicated to raising life-saving dollars in honor of transplant-needy children and young adults. 100% of each contribution made to COTA in honor of our patients helps meet transplant-related expenses. COTA’s services are free to our families, and gifts to COTA are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
