Zucc Smoking Meats (Songified by Shmoyoho)

Today’s song theme is brought to you on YouTube, featuring Mark Zuckerberg singing about BRISKET. Check it out for a good laugh!

Why brisket you ask? Because Lindsey is now the President of the Brisket Fan Club! She is still daydreaming about the brisket she had yesterday morning. May I present…. brisket benedict, prepared by Revel Restaurant:

Also yesterday, Lindsey cooked homemade meatballs with (non homemade) spaghetti. For her first attempt at meatballs, I have to say they were pretty darn good.

Today was our first follow-up hospital visit for labs and clinic appointments. We saw the post-transplant coordinator, social worker, surgeon, and nurse practitioner. Overall it went very smoothly – they are happy with Lindsey’s progress, energy, general recovery, and lab results.

We are still adjusting the Tacro, which is the main immune suppressant that Lindsey will be on for life. The goal is to get lab values between 10 and 12. On Saturday she was at 9.9 and today she was at 12.7, at the same dosage. So for now we are keeping her morning dose the same and slightly decreasing her evening dose, to see if that lands us in the sweet spot.

Lindsey still has one JP drain and it’s causing her some pain (she says a lot of pain). It might be removed Thursday or possibly next week. The output needs to stay low enough to justify removing it.

This afternoon was pretty quiet and relaxing for Lindsey as Pam started up her regular job again, working remotely on a part time schedule for now. Pam made it through day one without killing anyone. We call that a success. 🙂

We are expecting an ice storm tomorrow (according to the TV broadcasters, although online sources say just rain, so who knows?) so Lindsey plans to cook a couple more items during the day.

Tonight we are going to check out the brand new season two of Snowpiercer, and tomorrow Big Sky comes back on, so we have TV dates. Lindsey wants to finish Virgin River first – she was almost done with it before transplant. It was a good series; Mike, Pam and Lindsey all recommend it.

Also, Thursday Lindsey plans to re-start her virtual tutoring, which she was doing prior to transplant. She helps some families with students in our school district while they are doing virtual or “safe start” or hybrid learning.

Thank you to our newest donors who contributed to COTA! Today’s gratitude goes to Charlene Miller, Don McCormick, Mark Rolling, Natalie & David Dutton, and Scott Miller.
