We have had a blessedly quiet week here in Pittsburgh. Lindsey’s felt great except for some nerve pain from abdominal nerves regrowing, and from her stitches getting stuck on her clothing.
We continue to explore unusual food destinations, including Pittsburgh’s Federal Galley. It’s a cool concept – basically, it’s a warehouse-type of space that is set up like a food court. However, all of the restaurants are run by local chefs who are trying to establish themselves. They get free rent in exchange for a percentage of their sales. The COTA photo uploader is not working for me today, so I added photos in a separate Facebook group post (look below the blog post). Check out the descriptions of the food for some very unique combinations!
Lindsey now shares her father’s obsession with Chinese food, and her favorite is sesame chicken. She may have eaten 4 full orders of that this week… just sayin’.
We also decided we were fed up with staying in this apartment all day every day (except for hospital visits) so we booked time to learn to throw axes! It turned out we were the only ones in the building, with one instructor, so we got lots of practice and let out some frustration. 🙂 There are pictures of that in the other Facebook post too.
Lindsey had her labs drawn again today and we think most things look ok, although her immune suppressant level is still low (despite a recent small increase in dosage). The transplant team will review today’s results and call us tomorrow with more instructions. Then on Thursday we have a clinic visit and an appointment with genetics. Lindsey is hoping they will decrease her citrulline dosage a lot so that she can start taking it in pill form, instead of liquid. Right now if she were to switch over to pills, it would be around 14 pills, 3 times a day…that’s too much!
If you feel so inclined, please click on the link at the top right of our COTA page to donate to COTA on behalf of Lindsey. We are trying to get to $25,000 by June 15th because COTA will then give us a $2,500 matching grant. We are around $3,000 away and every little bit counts!
Have a great week!
