Our Story

After 6 yrs of chronic reoccurring pancreatitis, and trying everything and more to avoid pancreas removal, we finally decided to go through with TPAIT surgery for Miko.  After a long trip to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, and a very intense and invasive surgery, Miko has begun her long recovery which will include many back and forth trips between Texas and Cincinnati. It is our deepest hope that this will be a new start at living life more fully.  Miko is looking forward to  spending a lot more time at places other than hospitals and emergency rooms, which have unfortunately been a focal point of Miko’s life for so many years.

The Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) helps children and young adults who need a life-saving transplant by providing fundraising assistance and family support. COTA is the nation’s only fundraising organization solely dedicated to raising life-saving dollars in honor of transplant-needy children and young adults. 100% of each contribution made to COTA in honor of our patients helps meet transplant-related expenses. COTA’s services are free to our families, and gifts to COTA are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
