I know that there has been many people wondering how Royalty has been doing since she had her transplant. The end of February, she received liver, pancreas, bowel and part of the large instestine. She was doing so well, then she had a period where she was struggling to breathe about 2 1/2 weeks after surgery so she was put on oxygen. After maybe a few days after this she still was having problems, and the doctors put her back on the ventilator. She has not been doing well since then. She developed a lung infection and her left lung collapsed. The doctor’s are saying the organs she received in the transplant are doing great, but it is just these other problems that have become hard to keep her off the ventilator. As a mother, I know it is hard for her mother everyday to see her baby like this. Royalty has been hospitalized since birth and her mother misses seeing her baby smiling and kicking her feet when she talks to her. On, Sunday, doctor’s were forced to perform CPR because Royalty’s little heart stopped. She required medication to aid in restarting her heart. Her mother had a meeting with doctor’s and today Royalty will be taken off the ventilator and doctor’s will be putting in a tracheostomy to see if this will help her body be able to start repairing herself. This little lady needs all the prayers she can get. I know this is a lot to read, but also pray for her mother who has been forced to leave everything she has in NJ and go to DC with absolutely nothing but the items you were able to carry as your baby was preparing for an organ transplant and now you are dealing with all of this, We try to keep this updated from time to time, but sometimes she has so much stuff going on that it is hard for her mother to discuss without breaking down. I know that mom has been receiving many calls from people wanting updates; so we will try to update her website more frequently so mom isn’t receiving too many calls from people. Just keep this family in pray and continue to support COTA for team Royalty.
