Our Story

This has truly been a long journey and Royalty has been fighting the whole way through.  There were so many obsticles that were there to break this baby and her mom down, but they have been pushing and they keep going.  Royalty just recently returned to RWJ in New Brunswick, NJ to a rehab where she is getting therapy and receiving continuous care from nursing staff.  She was scheduled to be discharged on November 20, 2019, but she ended up getting an infection in her trach and was transferred to the PICU for a few days.  She is currently still taking antibiotics, and will soon be going for transplant follow-up appointments in Washington, DC.  I ask that you continue to pray for her mother who is having a hard time getting help with things she will need having a disabled child.  I spoke with her recently and she stated sometimes she feels discouraged because it’s hard to find housing for her and Royalty being that she was staying in DC for months and her housing in NJ she lost because she wasn’t here.  Every place that she has been sent to people have been giving her a hard way to go, and she has even had doors closed in her face with people saying that it’s nothing they can do unless the mom was the one disabled.  I am unsure of any help or housing I can do but I am now reaching out to EVERY one who reads this to please help offer mom some assistance because I could not imagine having a child who is this sick and have ups and downs, and then have trouble finding housing that would be affordable for you and your child.  Everytime it seems Royalty takes a step closer to finally being able to be discharged from hospitals and rehabs, she gets knocked back many more steps.  I could not imagine how her mother feels, but she has continued to smile when she is down, and has should how much she has learned about being able to care for her daughter in the absence of nursing care when she is discharged.  Royalty still has a long road ahead of her, and I know that with our continued prayers and encouraging words for her mother, that anything is possible.  We are about to kick 2020 off with a few fund raisers and we hope that you all can attend and bring someone and tell them to bring someone.  If you are willing to host a fundraiser for COTA in honor of team Royalty please feel free to contact me via email qjackson0210@gmail.com and put FUND RAISING in the subject line.  Again, keep the positive words coming and any resources you may have to help mom establish some kind of disabled housing for Royalty.  Thank you guys for always supporting us, and keeping mom’s spirits up.
