Our Story

Wil is a happy 14-year-old boy who was born with a rare metabolic disorder called methymalonic acidemia, which means he’s missing an enzyme in his liver that breaks down protein.

He’s been in and out of the hospital his whole life.

Over the last few years Wil’s kidney function has started to decline. After speaking with many medical professionals, they all came to the conclusion that Wil needs a double transplant. He needs a new kidney because his are failing, and he needs a new liver that’s not diseased to protect his new kidney.

Wil enjoys being outside, riding his horse and playing practical jokes. We can’t wait for his quality of life to improve so he can get back to the things he enjoys in life.

The Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) helps children and young adults who need a life-saving transplant by providing fundraising assistance and family support. COTA is the nation’s only fundraising organization solely dedicated to raising life-saving dollars in honor of transplant-needy children and young adults. 100% of each contribution made to COTA in honor of our patients helps meet transplant-related expenses. COTA’s services are free to our families, and gifts to COTA are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
