Winston- 3 weeks after surgery

It’s Halloween and our superhero, Winston, has turned into Spiderman and walked briefly in the hospital halls … that’s right, Winston was walking in physical therapy yesterday! The medical team is monitoring the leg and arm bone fractures and the chest port area (scabbed over finally with no further bleeding), but Winston continues to make progress in therapy each day. He got to attend the pediatric transplant floor Halloween party, met the Hulk and devoured a few Reese’s pieces for the first time! Right now, the goal is to achieve the proper nutritional balance with daily food intakes by mouth and by feeding tube which must be accomplished before he can be discharged from the hospital. The new “miver” (aka Auntie Mimi’s donated liver portion!) continues to perform in an excellent manner with no signs of rejection or malfunction and all other vitals are stable. Praise God!

Auntie Mimi (aka Megan) is recovering well at home! She has started some light jogging on the home treadmill, but does feel the exhaustion of the new liver regenerating at frequent intervals! She hopes to get the medical clearance for driving next week, but right now her family is 100% onboard for the home assistance and care plan!

God is good!
