Our Story

Wrenley was born on February 9th, 2023. She is a sweet, beautiful little girl that is just full of smiles. She loves pretty lights and lots of cuddles. We had almost 3 months of normalcy, but had some weight gain issues. On May 10th we were admitted to Children’s Mercy in Kansas City, where we found out that she has hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Both ventricles of her heart have a large overgrowth of muscle, causing it to not pump correctly. We thought she was stable, so we were sent home on May 16th with mediation and a plan to follow up. On May 17th her breathing changed, and she was readmitted to Children’s Mercy where she was sedated and placed on a ventilator and ECMO machine to do the work of her heart and lungs. On May 31st the genetics came back, and we found out that she has Noonan Syndrome. The main complication is hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, which of course we are already dealing with. There are other things to watch for, but we’ll do that as she grows. We were just listed on June 1st as status 1A on the transplant list. She is still critical, but she is a little fighter!

The Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) helps children and young adults who need a life-saving transplant by providing fundraising assistance and family support. COTA is the nation’s only fundraising organization solely dedicated to raising life-saving dollars in honor of transplant-needy children and young adults. 100% of each contribution made to COTA in honor of our patients helps meet transplant-related expenses. COTA’s services are free to our families, and gifts to COTA are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
