One of Tj’s goals is to sit up on his own. Today Tj was very motivated to sit up, but he really gave the nurses a run for their money today. He was wiggling his legs all around trying to sit himself up. He was only able to sit in the chair for 35 minutes. He was so determined to sit up on his own and ended up wearing himself out. We hope to get closer to his goal of sitting for two hours tomorrow.
Tj’s blood sugars were running a little high and his insulin had to be increased. Tj has been able to resume almost all his medications that he was taken before surgery. The doctors have found a pain regimen that helped to keep him comfortable, they have scheduled a little more medication to keep his pain in check. No seizures!! We only had a few tremors, and he was ordered his medication that assists with the tremors.
His feeds were upped again and prayerfully he will have no discomfort overnight. All in All today was a good day and Tj is pushing towards his goals. If he can tolerate his feeds and his pain is managed overnight, he can be moved to the transplant floor. One more step to him being able to go home.
The morning of January 31st, Tj was very uncomfortable due to stomach cramping. The doctors said around this stage stomach cramping and intestinal spasms are expected. He is getting his full amount of nutritional supplement through his tube. YAY !! Tjs blood sugars ranged from 50-190 throughout the evening. The doctors are adjusting his insulin trying to find a rate that will keep his blood sugars consistently in parameters. Tj was placed on oxygen last night but has not needed it this morning. We were hoping to get to the transplant Floor but we have to stay in the ICU until they can stabilize Tjs blood sugars. He is working hard everyday to get well as he keeps pushing towards his goals, we know he is going to achieve them.
