Tj went to the operating room tto have his G-Jtube replaced. The surgeon informed us that they had a lot of difficulty clearing the old tube because there was sediment from medication that built up. There was an additional hole in the tube in the inside of his body that was going straight into his abdomen. This explains a lot of TJs abdominal discomfort, in additon to the pain from the actual incision. The surgeon had to apply a lot of pressure in addition to adding a Teflon tube inside that was inflated to allow the new G-jtube to be placed because it wouldn’t slide in on it’s own. Tj has had a lot of pain and discomfort today following this additional surgery. He had to use more PRN pain medication and doctors are coming up with a plan to keep him comfortable. His blood sugars have been so low today. Tj’s poor little nurse was on her heels all afternoon. He has to have 3 sugar bolus’s, on top of 2 cartons of apple juice. Towards the end of the night Tj’s sugars finally remained in normal range. After his evening medications his little body was wore out and he didn’t even have PT today because his sugars were way too low. We got a few smiles once his blood levels were in range and his pain medication kicked in. He is still smiling his way through it all. Tj is the truest definition of a FIGHTER!!!
