Post Surgery Update

On January 25, 2025 Tj was in a lot of pain around 3am, the doctors adjusted is medication as a result the pain is under a little more control. The doctors have been constantly monitoring him for seizures, because when he is too agitated can lead to seizures, and unfortunately one of his seizure medications cannot be given via IV.

Tj was beginning to twitch, so the doctors increased the (Valium) to keep him calm and help with muscle spasms.

We are on the third pain medication adjustments and switches the doctors are trying to find the right/sweet spot of not over medicating which will cause his breathing to slow too much, but just enough to keep Tj comfortable.

The medication adjustments has not been the only eventful thing for TJ, the RT Respiratory Therapist had to perform deep suction to get the fluid out his chest, and he woke up and gave her a look like lady leave me along. His nurse said for him to be non-verbal she knows what he was saying. She also gave did manual cough assist and he is unable to use his vest because of the stitches in abdomen.

His glucose number are out of range, so the nurses are drawing blood and checking every 15 minutes to monitor and adjust as needed.

They will begin a new medicine of (Lasix) due to the swelling he is experiencing. This will help reduce the swelling as well as help lower is blood pressure as it is too high.  Because of all the things going on with TJ, his nurse has not been able to leave the room this morning at all.

The goal for today is to reduce swelling and keep him calm.
