Okay days are better than bad days and today Tj had just that an okay day. Tj’s lungs have become coarse because his steroids were lowered to help with his healing after his surgery. Tj’s blood sugars have been all over from as low as 50 to high as 200. His levels are supposed to be in the 70-125 range. The doctors are still trying to get a handle on his base line dose of insulin, which will keep his blood sugars in
normal range.
Tj is struggling with constipation due to the amount of pain
medication needed to keep him comfortable. In spite of all these obstacles TJ had a few awesome victories. He was able to walk 3 hallways today with his walker and moderate
assistance, kick a ball while sitting in his wheelchair, he was able to sit up by himself for 5 whole minutes, and Tj is no longer on a clear liquid diet. He can eat and drink what he likes. He is taking it slow, but we were able to get him to eat mashed potatoes and gravy, with a few bites of sugar free Jello. From a physical stand point he is really giving his all and making great progress. His little body is just giving him a hard time along
the way.
