Abbey went from walking, bending, and almost running around the hospital on Thursday to bed ridden on Friday for basically the entire day. It’s hard to explain in detail what has happened, especially since it isn’t for sure defined by the surgeon and support team. They are doing everything they can in Cincy and we believe she is in the absolute best place she can be. She is throwing oddities to the team, but we will get answers soon.
So, here are the updates I received from Mandy. “She threw up twice last night and once this morning. She is still in significant pain. They are going to do a contrast study today at some point so we are stopping feeds putting her back on full IV fluids and having to insert an NG since she won’t drink the contrast. Mandy and Abbey didn’t get to sleep until 12:30 last night bc we had to replace her dressing since she threw up on it and it was bleeding out of the inclusive barrier.” And later “She has taken a major step backwards. Everytime they increase her feeds, her exit tubes fill up much faster which is showing that she isn’t absorbing the feeds appropriately. That started an increased imaging protocol. She had an NG placed and an IV so she can get the imaging dye. Preliminary imaging showed undefined and unexplained dilation. Not quite sure where the dilation is, or what the plan is moving forward other than the are going to do secondary imaging tonight around 10 PM to make sure there’s no blockage or extra leakage. She has thrown up a couple times today, and is still in immense pain. She did walk for a little bit, but quickly had to make it back to the room. Poor Abby is just over people messing with her at this point.
Heartbreaking ????
