We received unexpected news that we are currently navigating through. A blood test came back positive for antibodies there is limited research on. If left untreated the antibodies will attack her new kidney and cause damage that cannot be reversed. This would mean her new kidney would not last her as long. To treat this, Vanessa has received multiple infusion treatments at Phoenix Children’s hospital in the last couple months and was started on a new medication. Her next kidney biopsy is scheduled for the end of this month to check her kidney health and see how well she has responded to these treatments. Although disappointed to hear this news we are confident in the doctor’s treatment plan and have so much HOPE that this plan will be successful.
On a positive note, she continues to work hard with her feeding therapy and is making great progress! Vanessa was referred for an evaluation for the Intensive Feeding Therapy program at PCH, which was a huge step. It is the only program of its kind in the state of Arizona who helps children like Vanessa wean off their tube feedings. This evaluation will determine if she is ready to begin the program. We look forward to hearing the outcome of the evaluation next week. Her favorite food right now is vanilla or strawberry yogurt.

God Bless her! She is in my prayers
