Our Story

In January 2015, fifteen year old Vincent Graham lay critically ill in Children’s Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama, awaiting a liver transplant. Vincent had been born with blockages around his liver which led to surgeries that led to bacteria invading his liver over and over again. On January 25, 2015, by the grace and providence of God, Vincent received his new liver. Now, nineteen year old young man, is trying his best live a normal life. However, he will have to be monitored for the rest of his life, and he and his family will face medical-related expenses that are not covered by insurance. In 2019, his needed medication will increase 150%. The Children’s Organ Transplant Association, or COTA, partners with transplant patients and their families to help them meet these expenses. A contribution made to COTA in honor of Vincent will be available to assist with transplant-related expenses for his lifetime. These contributions are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law. Checks or money orders should be made payable to COTA, with “In Honor of Vincent G” written in the memo line of the check and mailed to Children’s Organ Transplant Association, 2501 West COTA Drive, Bloomington, IN 47403. If you have followed Vincent on his journey over the past 4 years, or if you are just now getting to know this special young man, please consider making a contribution to COTA in honor of him. Your gift will be greatly appreciated. Thank you, and May God bless you.
