Sisterly Love

This past weekend has been one of the best weekends that I have had in a very long time. My oldest daughter, Rhianna had the opportunity to come and stay the weekend with us at the hospital. From the time she walked in on Friday until the time she left on Sunday, Yemayah’s hospital room felt like home. My Warrior Princess laughed and talk more this weekend than she has in the last month. Just the mere presence of her sister erased all the sickness and withdrawal that she battled this last week and she was instantly transformed into a healthy and happy six year old.

Watching my girls filled my heart with joy! It felt like old times when childhood cancer was just a St. Jude commercial. One day soon we will all be back together at home and this weekend will be every weekend.

When my big girl left last night it was almost too much to bear. Besides my own heart aching, the Warrior Princess completely came undone! She kicked and she screamed and she cried long after her sister had left. Finally she gave in to the reality that her sister had to go home and she fell asleep in my arms.

Warrior Princess, it won’t be long til we’re all back together. Like you, I too miss Rhianna like crazy and long for the day when we’re all home!
