Adjusting to our new new Norm!

Adjusting to life at home

After 93 days in the hospital and another 50 days at the Ronald McDonald house, me and my girls have officially moved back to our own humble abode. For the most part the transition has been smooth and everyone is adjusting to being back at home. My Warrior Princess is thriving and continues to amaze me with her recovery process. Allbeit clumsily, she is independently walking around the house and is able to crawl up the stairs. Yemayah still struggles with nausea and does not eat much. Therefore, most days she still requires formula feedings via her j-tube about 10 hours a day to meet her nutritional needs. And of course she still take a plethora of medications every twelve hours.

My Queen of Heart, Rhianna is also doing very well! She is so happy for us all to finally be home together. She has been a tremendous help in helping her sister to heal and become independent. Yemayah wants to be where her sister is, so she pushes herself to do more even if it takes her longer and causes her a little discomfort.

My mommy job is now on full throttle! I am the newly appointed commander in chief of the Stonewood Pines resident. I am the triage nurse, the medicine administer, the cook, the teacher, the taxi driver, the tear catcher, the rump wiper, the lifeguard and the summer activity planner. In addition, I have fully resumed my responsibilities as an Engineer, including pressing my way to the job site on the days the Warrior Princess does not have appointments.

To sum it all up, I would say we are blessed and highly favored. We are doing our best to adjust to our new normal. Some days I am so tired I literally collapse at night. But even in my catatonic state, I am grateful beyond measures!
