Yesterday afternoon, on December 17, Cat got THE CALL. A family, in the midst of their own sorrow, made the selfless decision to donate their loved one’s lungs. Cat went into an 8-hour surgery at 7:45 in the evening. The report at 7:00 this morning says that surgery went well, and Cat is doing great. Her mother plans to visit her at 9:00!

Thanks to the entire medical team for making this miracle happen! And special thanks and prayers to the donor’s family during this difficult time for them. One hears the terms “donor” and “recipient” and all that, and it’s easy to distance yourself with the terminology. But if you think of all the donor family has gone through in the past couple of days and what they decided to do in the middle of everything…. it’s beyond words.
