Day +127 The Good. The Bad. The Hairy.

The Good – The preliminary reading of Alek’s MRI was good news. There are no new lesions, previous lesions are not growing, and the “ring of wildfire” is gone! Things are stable, hallelujah!

The Bad – The colonoscopy showed that Alek’s upper GI tract looks normal, but not his lower. He has inflammation throughout his colon. The GI doctor thinks it looks like Crohn’s based on the way it is presenting. But to make certain, biopsies were taken and sent to the lab to also test for CMV and EBV (two viral infections that can attack the GI system). We should have the results tomorrow and will be meeting with Alek’s BMT doctor on Thursday to develop a plan moving forward. Alek will likely need an MRI of his stomach and will also need a GI doctor as part of his home team.

The Hairy – Alek’s hair is growing back! It is dark and thick and oh so fuzzy!!!

  1. ???? I was diagnosed with Crohn’s last fall. Prayers if it is that, that they are able to come up with viable solutions for treatment.
