Good Afternoon!
Below is an update from Alicia’s mama:
Alicia is healing so well! Yesterday, April 26th, marked ONE MONTH since her BIG DAY! Alicia is still getting used to some side effects due to her medications, but the biggest NEW thing is her getting used to being able to BREATHE! We have been going on walks, and she is learning what “normal” tiredness is; things like being out of breath because your BODY says you’ve been working hard, not because her lungs can’t handle the push. That is so crazy to think about, but it’s so exciting. Our girl is breathing with her NEW LUNGS, and it’s a refreshing change!
Alicia continues to see her doctors twice a week, and she has gone from getting labs drawn from twice a week, to once a week! The purpose of that is for us to keep a close eye on her “levels”; from kidney function, sugars, iron, and even the levels of her immunosuppression medications.
With us being one-month post-operation, we now only have two months left in our apartment here in St. Louis. St. Louis has been so good to us, but we are ready to be home. Joe and I are JOYful knowing that our time here is getting slimmer, and slimmer. We all miss our HOME in Kansas City so very much. We are ready for BBQ’s, and enjoying life with our support system – even if we need to stay 6ft apart! Not one day goes by that we aren’t thankful for God’s timing in ALL of this! Despite the pandemic we are experiencing, our family is together when we were once told that wasn’t allowed. We aren’t driving back and forth from Kansas City to St. Louis twice a week, as we were once planning to do. Our jobs are able to continue the way everyone else’s jobs are being maintained. God is just SO BIG, and he cares right down to the tiniest of details!
Alicia says, “HI” to all her people! Thank you so much for your past, present, and continued support! Our journey doesn’t end here … it is JUST BEGINNING!
Revealing JOY to God’s KIDS!
Let’s continue to pray for Alicia’s speedy recovery and pray for protection over Alicia to have no side effects from medications. Also, pray for the family’s time in St. Louis to go by quickly so they can all come home soon!!
