Alicia’s Recovery Update

Hello Prayer Warriors!

Today marks 1 month, 2 weeks, and 8 days since transplant (TX) day; Ali’s lungs are BREATHING and THRIVING! We are forever grateful to our donors; While the Berkey family are grateful, they grieve the loss of their loved one. Thank you doesn’t even scratch the surface of gratitude that they are feeling or can even TRY to share. That family CHOSE life, and their yes is allowing Crissie and Joe’s baby girl Alicia to continue her story WITH THEM.

On May 12th, Alicia had bronchoscopy surgery.  It is routine to biopsy the new lung to check on lung function and reflux. The doctor said that this was the fastest & easiest Bronch he has ever done and that everything looked “PERFECT”!  Alicia’s new lungs look like HER VERY OWN, (Praise Jesus) right down to not even being able to visualize where the stitching took place.  The assistant surgeon had to ask where the scaring “should be”?! WHAT!!! You guys — there’s no fluid, there are no secretions, AND there is great coloring – everything is  “perfect”!  Thank You, Jesus, for You have done Great Things!!!

Continue to pray for Alicia’s progress and that the family’s time would go by quickly in Stl Lous as they plan to come in July.

The Berkey’s are so thankful for all that continue to pray for them and for their sweet girl Alicia!!
