Our Story

With the cost of a transplant often exceeding $500,000, a partnership with the Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) will assist with a lifetime of transplant-related expenses. Please consider making a tax deductible donation to “COTA in honor of Dash”

Hi, I’m Dash, in July 2020 I received a kidney transplant less than two months before my second birthday.  A paired exchange was planned where my Dad donated a kidney to an unknown recipient and two days later I received a kidney from an altruistic donor.

Although a kidney transplant is not a cure, it is the treatment that will best improve my health. I’ve begun and will continue taking expensive medications including anti-rejection/immuno-suppressant medications which I will continue throughout my lifetime. The life span of a transplanted organ varies and it is expected that this will not be my only transplant during my life. The Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) is a national charity dedicated to organizing and guiding communities in raising funds for transplant-related expenses. Volunteers in Utah are raising funds for COTA in honor of transplant patients like me.

The Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) helps children and young adults who need a life-saving transplant by providing fundraising assistance and family support. COTA is the nation’s only fundraising organization solely dedicated to raising life-saving dollars in honor of transplant-needy children and young adults. 100% of each contribution made to COTA in honor of our patients helps meet transplant-related expenses. COTA’s services are free to our families, and gifts to COTA are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
