Today wasn’t the news we were hoping for.

Earlier this week, Dierks had nausea and vomiting, and labs showed his creatinine rising to 1.77—likely from dehydration. He received IV fluids Thursday and has been pushing fluids since, all while feeling better than he has in a long time and back to his goofy self!

Unfortunately, today his creatinine is still about the same at 1.74. We’ll continue increasing fluids, and if there’s no improvement by Monday, the next step will be a kidney biopsy to rule out early rejection.

This is a tough hit—Dierks said he doesn’t want to go through this again for a very long time. For now, we’re staying focused, taking it day by day, and holding onto the good moments. Wyatt and his siblings are here this weekend, and we’re soaking up that time together.
