We received “good bad news” from Dierks’ kidney biopsy. He is in mild borderline rejection, specifically cellular rejection—the more manageable type. This means his immune system isn’t quite suppressed enough right now.
The plan is three days of high-dose IV steroids, followed by oral steroids that will gradually taper to a low daily dose. They may repeat the biopsy in about a month to ensure the rejection has resolved. The most reassuring news: his nephrologist says the prognosis is good and they are “almost always able to turn this around.”
Dierks is doing well and staying positive, already looking for a silver lining!
His first steroid treatment begins today.
We are so grateful for the continued prayers and support—it means everything to us. 💚
