Well, it’s 2021 and we’re praying that a donor is provided soon. The Christmas holiday has been full of family and adventure. Jeffrey and Alexa flew in on the 23rd and get to stay until the 4th. It is a welcome visit. They have been missed and certainly will be missed after they leave. Elizabeth stayed here in Colorado with Ethan I after the Thanksgiving visit. I think it’s been good for her although she misses her pets and friends as well as Jeffrey and Alexa. School certainly went better after she got here. I have the ability to stay a little more on top of her classes now that I have graduated from nursing school.
Ethan is still fairly stable and only declining slightly. He has moments of fatigue but rebounds the next day. He has begun to participate in cardiac rehab. The goal is to get him in the best shape prior to transplantation. The better his health prior to transplantation, the better the outcome. He enjoys it because it involves exercise and that makes him happy. It also allows him the opportunity to socialize with other people. He needs that, just as everyone else needs socialization.
I believe that this new year is going to be full of amazing and wonderful opportunities and miracles brought by our Lord Jesus Christ. He has sustained us and kept us healthy and well provided for by the generosity of so many. We are blessed and thankful.
Our time at the hospital is full. Ethan has cardiac rehab every Monday and Thursday. We do clinic on Wednesday and then he has cap change on Monday, dressing change on Wednesday and bag change on Thursday. I have lots of opportunity to practice my skills and I like that. When we aren’t at the hospital, Ethan gets energy out in the pool room shooting pool or we find a place to go walk, like the mall or a park, if it’s warm enough.
Overall, we’re doing well and thankful for that. Still praying for the heart donor and family. Praying that God would prepare them and grant them peace and comfort.
I know I said I would try to write more often, but I also said I wasn’t a blogger. I will try harder though. Until next time…
You are an amazing woman with an amazing son, husband, and family. I continue to send you lots of positive energy, love, and prayers.
