Well, Ethan is out of surgery and in recovery. This was an exceptionally challenging transplant and one of the fastest surgeons were on the job. The surgery from start to finish was about 9.5 hours. The donor heart is functioning well, but the next couple of days will be critical. With a new heart and all of the new anatomy that had to be reconstructed, there will be a period of time where the body needs to adjust. Also, bleeding is still a very real issue. He came through the surgery, but now his body has to do the work. Continued prayers are greatly appreciated. He will remain sedated for the next day minimum. We cannot see him for at least a couple of hours still. God is good!
