Today was a good day. Evelyn sat outside with me for a little while, all bundled up in her coat, as we watched the sun go down. It’s been since November since she last stepped outside to breathe in some fresh air. I could see the sparkle in her eyes, that little moment of amazement she had just being outside and it made me smile. We’re so looking forward to warmer days when she can spend even more time outdoors.
The other day, Evelyn and I were sitting in the hallway visiting with another baby who had a heart transplant back in October. We were trying to get her to wave (she’s never done it before), and leave it to Evelyn — she got her to do it! The few nurses nearby cheered, and it was the sweetest thing. Those little moments mean everything in the hospital.
