Our Story
We are always hesitant to post details about Gracie’s journey with her health because it’s very personal to our family. Yet, we also know the power of prayer and in our current circumstance our girl needs all the prayers she can get.
Gracie was diagnosed with Biliary Atresia at one month old and underwent a Kasai procedure. Since January she has been in Children’s hospital fighting an infection common in children with Biliary Atresia. She has been on antibiotics around the clock and had multiple operations in hopes of clearing the infection. Unfortunately, they haven’t been able to clear the infection. This, partnered with varices, signaled to Gracie’s doctors that she will not be able to fight the infection with her native liver.
Gracie has officially been listed for transplant and we have been transferred to start the living donor route. This is not the typical route to transplant as you would preferably not have an active infection while needing to take immunosuppressants to receive a new liver. The reality is that we have no other option. We are scared but also hopeful that with a transplant we are approaching a light at the end of the tunnel.
Brody and Amanda have prayed and declared total healing over Gracie since they found out about her BA diagnosis and are certain that a liver transplant is God’s answer to this prayer! It’s truly a miracle.
As the body of Christ, we are called to be a blessing as the hands and feet of Jesus and I pray Brody, Amanda, and Gracie can see the love of Christ as we ask for what God places on your heart to support and ask for your prayers of healing in Jesus name as we believe a transplant is God’s gift of healing.
We know there is a long journey ahead that requires traveling, receiving medical care, as well as, a lifetime of medicine and check ups.
Whether you are led to financially support COTA for Gracie’s Journey or not, we are so grateful for the outpouring of love and prayers.
We ask ultimately that Jesus be glorified in this process and are trusting in Him as our Savior, Healer, Provider and Victor.
The Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) helps children and young adults who need a life-saving transplant by providing fundraising assistance and family support. COTA is the nation’s only fundraising organization solely dedicated to raising life-saving dollars in honor of transplant-needy children and young adults. 100% of each contribution made to COTA in honor of our patients helps meet transplant-related expenses. COTA’s services are free to our families, and gifts to COTA are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
