Hello From Heethie!

Thank you SO MUCH to all the friends and family who have brought over meals, groceries, gifts, pictures, notes, sent texts, called and just showed SO MUCH LOVE for our buddy.  It means the world to us.  I feel horrible that I can’t keep up with thank you notes, but please know how much it means to all of us!!

We have our first appointment at the Hematology/Oncology Clinic tomorrow with Heeth’s lead Oncologist Dr. Fassell.  She is wonderful and has already challenged Heeth to Mario Cart once his Nintendo Switch from Auntie Meg and the Kleins arrives (which has caused me to break all my rules and values!)

Heeth will be going to “clinic” every 2 days in Boston leading up to treatment.  We are still awaiting many test results to determine treatment for his Aplastic Anemia.  First we have to know the cause, so that we can choose the most appropriate and hopefully successful plan.  At his appointment they will check his levels (platelets, red, and white blood cells,) and if needed he may have a transfusion.  We hope not, but the doctors have said it is a possibility.  At home, Heeth just has to have a temperature check in the morning and night, and nose medication to hopefully prevent bleeding.  But the hardest part is the rule of “Feet On Ground” meaning no running, jumping, or any adventure activity (which is what Heeth loves.)  It’s a good thing Heeth volunteered for a year and a half pre-COVID at a local nursing home for the Memory Loss residents: He was the “seated exercise” helper, so he knows some low impact moves:)

So many friends and family have offered meals, groceries, gas, and much more: thank you thank you!  At the current moment, we are okay at home: and trying to keep things pretty low key.  However, I recognize we will need some help as we begin treatment.  We have a terrific trio that will be helping to organize and once we get to that point, I will post their contact information in case anyone wants to help with those things.

For now, Heeth is doing okay: he gets tired, but has been eating like a champ, got to throw the football with Nash today, and is SO appreciative of all the love we have received.  Please keep the positive thoughts in your minds, it means to much to us.

Sending you all HUGE HUGS from Heeth!
With Love, H
Heethie
PS: We are excited to wear our cool new shirts to clinic tomorrow: thank you Auntie Kerr and Uncle Bryan!
