It’s been several weeks since posting an update during this wonderful, busy holiday season! Isaac had his monthly heart clinic appointment at the beginning of the month and all his labs look great! He continues to feel really good, and we are thankful for every day we can live life as usual.
This month, Isaac has enjoyed many Christmas festivities, including seeing movies with family or friends, having a Christmas party with the high school ministry at our church, and riding around with friends in a “party bus” to look at Christmas lights. He also wrapped up his first semester in high school with straight A’s! He has been busy helping around the house, working on hand-made Christmas gifts, and teaching himself piano. About a week ago he got back into his work-out routine! It has been almost 6 months since his open-heart surgery. He lost a lot of muscle and a lot of weight and hasn’t felt like he could exercise with the PICC line in his arm, even though he technically has no restrictions. I am grateful he has decided to get back to it because he wants to be in the best shape possible when his new heart arrives!
Isaac loves Christmas, and I know he is excited about all the family time and presents that await us in the coming week! We will have much to share after Christmas as Isaac hits 100 days on the transplant list. Until then, may you experience the hope, love, joy and peace Christ brings this season, and always!
Merry Christmas from the Secrest Family!Christmas Lights with friends!
