Dropping Meds!

Lots of updates on Isaac today, including med changes, an upcoming procedure and Make-a-Wish!

At Isaac’s last heart clinic they discovered he was a little “dry,” which can cause his kidneys to take a hit. SO, they dropped one of his diuretics and took labs a week later. His labs were so good, they cut back a tiny bit on one of his other diuretics and he is doing so well! His BNP (a lab that indicates heart failure) has gone down significantly since August. This does not mean Isaac does not have heart failure (his echocardiogram still shows severely depressed function), but his medication is doing a super job of supporting him!

Isaac has a big procedure coming up on Feburary 28th. He will be having a routine heart cath, but while he is under anasthesia he will also be having an esophegeal scope and possibly having a section of his esophagus stretched. This is exciting becuase he has a narrowing part way down that causes some swallowing issues. We discovered it mostly after he was intubated during his heart surgery last July. I am excited for him to have a more pleseant experience with intubation the next time around.

Lastly, Isaac is meeting with his volunteer Make-a-wish granter tonight! We were so blessed to experience Give Kids the World Village and all the Orlando theme parks with Jane during her wish trip in March 2019. It’s hard to believe we have another brave kid being granted a wish! However, Isaac’s wish is VERY different from our little Janie, who turned 5 during her wish trip. This dude is turning 17 in just a few weeks! Can’t wait to share what wish he is being granted in a future post!
