Jaime spiked a 102° fever, so with everything he has going on, the decision was made to take him straight to the Riley ER rather than our local ER. After being evaluated, he was admitted last night for further testing and monitoring.
Thankfully, our little guy slept pretty hard overnight and got some much needed rest. He did end up needing some oxygen after his O2 levels kept dipping just below where the team wanted them.
Some of his testing has also come back positive for a virus, which gives us at least one piece of the puzzle. They have started antibiotics through his IV as well.
It sounds like they are still leaning toward doing a paracentesis to test some of the fluid in his abdomen and make sure there isn’t an infection there contributing to the fever.
Right now, we don’t have much of a timeline for the antibiotics, the paracentesis, or how long his hospital stay might be. For now, it’s a lot of waiting, watching and taking things as they come.
Please keep our sweet boy in your thoughts as his team works to get him feeling better and figure out exactly what’s going on. 💙
