It’s been a while since I’ve updated my COTA page—I’ve been focused on healing from my second double-lung transplant and making frequent round trips to NYU Langone Health for ongoing treatment with multiple specialists.
June 19 marks 10 months post-transplant. I’ve been working hard with my physical therapist to regain strength and independence, and I’m determined to say goodbye to my wheelchair and rollator.
Living with Cystic Fibrosis means ongoing health challenges. In March, I underwent sinus surgery to prevent infections from reaching my new lungs. Then, just two weeks ago, I was rushed to the ER with severe stomach pain. Unable to make it to NYU in time, I was admitted to a local ICU where I was diagnosed with Pancreatitis and a potential stomach perforation.
Thankfully, I avoided surgery and began to recover with treatment. After five difficult days in the ICU, I was finally cleared to go home.
This journey hasn’t been easy, but I’m still here, fighting!
With gratitude,
Jen
