Rosie the Hog at the County Fair

Rosie had a wonderful time at the Pottawatomie County fair this year, even getting to participate in the parade on Sunday. His only complaint was that it was extremely hot but he had some young 4-Her’s taking care of him and keeping him cool over the weekend. Yes, Rosie is a he. We did not know if the hog for our drawing was going to be male or female until the fair but we found out that Rosie is a male Scottish name so as John says, ”the name held!”

We want to thank John and Deanna Fairbanks of Onaga, Kansas for the donation of Rosie and Flint Hills Custom Meat from Onaga for doing the processing. We also thank EVERYONE who participated in the drawing with their munificent donations to COTA in honor of John the Warrior. We have such wonderful, generous people in our community.

The drawing for Rosie was Sunday evening at the close of the fair and the winning number was #75 which belonged to Ed Harcrow of Wamego. Congratulations!

As we paused to get a picture of John with Rosie at the fair, we asked him what he thought of the pig. John looked at Rosie then said, “He’ll make a good pork chop!”
