COTA for Kaden's Heart

Our Story

Meet Kaden – Our Heart Warrior:

Kaden is part of a large, loving family and is one of five siblings. He was born with a unique and complex form of Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS). Throughout his life, Kaden has undergone three open-heart surgeries that have helped sustain his life. Recently, he was unable to qualify for the next stage of surgery due to concerns that his heart may not be strong enough to withstand another operation. Kaden is currently awaiting a heart transplant as we continue to pray and trust God through every step of his journey.

Outside of the hospital, Kaden and our family are actively involved in our church ministry, where he participates in the youth ministry. Kaden has a passion for music and creativity. He enjoys playing the drums and piano, writing, drawing, and perfecting his Michael Jackson dance move, especially his moonwalk!

Kaden is truly a heart warrior who has overcome many challenges throughout his life. Each day, we remind him that he was born with a purpose, that his life is a blessing, and that Christ holds him close in His loving arms. Through every challenge, Kaden continues to inspire us with his strength, creativity, and beautiful spirit.

Kaden is more than his heart condition; he is a child of God with a purpose, a gift, and a story that continues to inspire everyone around him.

The Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) helps children and young adults who need a life-saving transplant by providing fundraising assistance and family support. COTA is the nation’s only fundraising organization solely dedicated to raising life-saving dollars in honor of transplant-needy children and young adults. 100% of each contribution made to COTA in honor of our patients helps meet transplant-related expenses. COTA’s services are free to our families, and gifts to COTA are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
