Our Story
Kaeden is a strong resilient little boy. He loves to play on the computer, arts and crafts, videos games and to spend time with his family. He especially loves spending time with his brother, and they seem to always get into mischief. He has one younger brother and an older sister. Kaeden’s father is in the military, so he has had the opportunity to live in North Carolina, Alaska, and Washington.
Kaeden was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease at birth. Kaeden also has a neurogenic bladder and lung hypoplasia. He has had three bladder reconstruction surgeries with one causing the removal of a kidney. At the time the kidney had minimal function. Currently, he has one kidney, which has received quite a bit of injury due to surgeries, urinary tract infections and kidney infections. The injuries have also caused his kidney function to decline.
As of now Kaeden needs a kidney because of the state of his kidney function. Because of the lack of his kidney function he has less energy, nausea, confusion, shortness of breath, irregular heartbeat and anxiety. Through his journey with the multiple surgeries, hospital stays, blood draws and general care he receives, he has remained a strong fighter. His conditions will constantly require the need of medical care comparative to an individual without any health conditions.
100% of the funds raised for COTA will assist with a lifetime of transplant expenses. We appreciate all donations and hope you continue to follow Kaeden’s journey.
The Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) helps children and young adults who need a life-saving transplant by providing fundraising assistance and family support. COTA is the nation’s only fundraising organization solely dedicated to raising life-saving dollars in honor of transplant-needy children and young adults. 100% of each contribution made to COTA in honor of our patients helps meet transplant-related expenses. COTA’s services are free to our families, and gifts to COTA are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
