COTA for Kash's Heart

Our Story

Born in the winter of 2022, Kash was a very happy and healthy baby. She loved to watch Gracie’s corner and Jools TV, Sesame Street and Curious George, and of course Minnie Mouse. Her favorite toys were her musical toys, especially her microphone; she absolutely loves singing. She’s very fond of story time, as well, and she has many books in her little collection. She wasn’t born with any heart issues. So when her appetite and energy began to fade in August of 2024, I decided to take her to the emergency room. After tests I was informed that her heart was failing. The doctors found the best hospital to take care of her and this journey began. The doctors called it acute Decompensated Heart failure – her heart was enlarged. We were informed that she would need a heart transplant and the doctors made sure to get her name on the list. As of today, she enjoys physical, occupational and speech therapy, playing, and spending time with friends and family while waiting for her heart transplant.

The Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) helps children and young adults who need a life-saving transplant by providing fundraising assistance and family support. COTA is the nation’s only fundraising organization solely dedicated to raising life-saving dollars in honor of transplant-needy children and young adults. 100% of each contribution made to COTA in honor of our patients helps meet transplant-related expenses. COTA’s services are free to our families, and gifts to COTA are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
