We received word late on October 21, 2020 that Riley had located a kidney they felt was perfect for Keke. Needless to say, we could hardly sleep that night. Things were all a blur as we heard various ideas about when we should go to Indy and what we should do next.

We rushed to Indy the next day for a lsst round of tests and surgery prep. The doctor decided to perform the transplant the following day in the early afternoon. Another night of little sleep!!

Keke went in for her transplant around 2:00pm on October 23. She was back home with us in Fort Wayne by Wednesday evening, October 28. She will return to Indy several times over the next few weeks for follow-up tests and treatments.

The entire family feels tremendous greatfulness for Keke’s new kidney, even as we mourn wth the family of the donor.
