Liam’s First Christmas

Merry Christmas!! We were so blessed to have a healthy and happy Liam at “home” for Christmas this year. The Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and Ronald McDonald House (with the overwhelming support of the greater Pittsburgh community) have made the Advent and Christmas season so special for us. Liam received so many toys and we had so many yummy meals provided for us. We created a cozy home in our Ronald McDonald apartment. A special shoutout to Chelsea Lettie for our Christmas tree, to my mom for the nativity scene, and to Logan’s mom for a beautiful Christmas wreath. We were able to take Liam to Christmas Day Mass.

I broke down during the processional hymn “Oh Come all Ye’ Faithful.” I was overwhelmed with emotion at being able to finally hold my baby at Mass and on such a special day celebrating the birth of the infant Christ! (We did go to one of the less crowded Masses, sat away from other people, and Clorox wiped every surface Liam might touch lol) but it did not take away from the magic of the moment. We had friends and family donate to our Christmas so we were able to give gifts to each other and purchase a wagon to use for transporting Liam to clinic visits.

I have been so inspired by the generosity of others. I am looking forward to being in a position to pay that forward in the future. Thank you to everyone who made this Christmas so special for us!!
