It’s been over two months since Lily received her heart. The chest bone is considered fully healed and she can resume full physical activity. One of her first requests was to get back on her bike. She went up and down the sidewalk asking me if she’s going fast. Two days later, Jenny was out teaching her to ride without training wheels! Pre transplant, Lily couldn’t get her legs moving fast enough to pedal without falling, now she’s a couple more runs away from riding fully without assistance.
It’s been a tough journey, and still is with all the doctor appointments and blood draws. We’re seeing the rewards of that struggle and is making this all worthwhile. She smiles more, her color is slowly coming back, and her sass is at the front. The personality is flourishing and she doesn’t hold back. The other day she ran around the house roaring like a bear. Not too long ago there wasn’t enough oomph to make that deep lung push. It’s great to see that kid be a kid again.
