Our Story
Our sweet Nora was born February 2025 and was diagnosed with Heterotaxy Syndrome which led to her being diagnosed with Biliary Atresia. Biliary Atresia is a rare and life-threatening liver disease in which bile flow from the liver is blocked, causing progressive liver damage. At just six weeks old Nora underwent a procedure called a Kasai, which is a surgery intended to restore bile flow. The surgery itself went smoothly and bile flow was initially re-established. Nora was a happy and growing little one! In the beginning of October Nora was diagnosed with Hepatopulmonary Syndrome (HPS) due to liver damage likely caused from previous injury before the Kasai. HPS is a serious lung complication of advanced liver disease where the widened blood vessels in the lungs prevent proper oxygen absorption, low blood oxygen and shortness of breath. A liver transplant is the only cure for HPS. In November we were put on the Liver Transplant wait list.
Nora is in critical condition which has led her to being in the hospital. She got an infection called Cholangitis. The infection caused further damage to her liver, so she had to be on ECMO and dialysis. Due to Nora getting sicker, her transplant score was increased. Nora has received a liver but unfortunately due to complications this liver is now failing. Nora has been re-listed for another liver transplant. She has been so strong and keeps on fighting!
With the help of the Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) all fundraising and donations in honor of Nora will assist with a lifetime of transplant-related expenses. Every donation to COTA for Nora’s Liver, every share and prayer brings us closer to saving our tough little girl! Please consider contributing and spreading the word. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still”

The Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) helps children and young adults who need a life-saving transplant by providing fundraising assistance and family support. COTA is the nation’s only fundraising organization solely dedicated to raising life-saving dollars in honor of transplant-needy children and young adults. 100% of each contribution made to COTA in honor of our patients helps meet transplant-related expenses. COTA’s services are free to our families, and gifts to COTA are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
