Yesterday was Ollie’s 200th day on earth — a milestone his parents quietly celebrated, never imagining how their world was about to change.

That same day, they got the news: a new heart was coming. 

And today, on his 201st day, that heart is beating strong inside their little boy. 

The transplant went beautifully. His doctor said the heart “looks like it belongs there.” Hearing those words brought an overwhelming sense of relief.

Even more encouraging, the surgical team was able to close Ollie’s chest in the operating room, which should help shorten his recovery time.

When his parents finally walked into the room, they saw something they’ll never forget — Ollie’s fingers, toes, and lips a perfect pink. His color, his warmth, his glow — it all spoke of new life, of oxygen flowing freely for the very first time. 

They kissed him, whispered that they loved him, and felt a wave of gratitude that words can’t really hold. Gratitude for the medical team that cared for him like their own. Gratitude for the donor family who turned heartbreak into hope. Gratitude for every single person who prayed, donated, or simply kept Ollie in their heart.

Today, that collective love is beating inside him. 

As the night settles, his care team is hopeful to extubate him tomorrow, marking another big step forward on his healing journey.
