Time seems to be standing still, yet flying by at the same time. For those that don’t know, she has not been able to leave the room since being admitted, and will likely not be able to leave it for at least a few more weeks. This makes for some very long days. I will say though, their Activities staff does a great job of finding ways to keep kids entertained!
Overall, Rae is doing as well as to be expected. She has now completed her initial course of chemo (rATG) and has moved on to her second course (Bulsulfan & Fludarabine). She has two more days of chemo to go, and so far her body has been responding appropriately.
Her stomach has been pretty upset the last few days so they’re giving her a few medications to calm the nasuea, including Benadryl and Ativan, which has made her pretty sleepy the last few days. She has found some comfort from the cooling hat that her friend brought her while visiting. She also looks incredibly adorable while wearing it!
When she was awake, she was able to spend a few hours with friends that came to visit. Also, she beat me 2 out of 3 games of Connect 4 (even while groggy… guess I need to up my skills!). She has also been coloring on her new iPad that family gave to her. We also made a wind powered car out of Legos.
What’s Next:
- 2 more days of chemo, her last dose will be Sunday
- 3 days of rest before the big day
- Transplant Day! Thursday 1/22
Prayers:
- Day 4: prayers that the meds work and she feels better
- Day 5: Prayers that she keeps her hair (her biggest fear/concern about the whole process).
Thank you!!!

We are incredibly blessed to have such an amazing community encouraging us! It really is overwhelming and humbling!
