Day 1 post liver transplant. First & foremost, thank you all for the thoughts and prayers. Ron’s surgery lasted about 9 hours and things couldn’t have gone better. The surgeon stated that his liver was plenty large enough to spare the amount needed for Reese without causing any future complications for Ron. Ron will be discharged from the hospital tomorrow and will be in hotel care until 8/16/24.
Reese is improving hour by hour after his 10-hour surgery. The surgeons are pleased that his liver began functioning as soon as the vessels and ducts were attached. He did develop a blood clot in his main artery while in surgery, but it was resolved with medication and manual manipulation. This is a continuing concern that the doctors are monitoring closely and yet each lab report indicates that all is trending in normal numbers. Reese is still on a ventilator and sedated. The plan is to decrease the sedation slowly throughout the afternoon and hopefully remove the ventilator. All doctors are pleased and hopeful with his progress. Many ups and downs are to be expected after such a big surgery and they are just getting started. But we are so thankful that Ron was able to donate part of his liver for Reese.
We are so appreciative of all the donations we’ve received for COTA for Reese’s Journey. Please continue to keep Lexi, Ron and Reese in your prayers as this is just the beginning of the recovery process.

Thank you Jesus that Ron and Reese had successful surgeries and that recovery is going as expected. Sending many prayers and love to you all🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🥰🥰🥰
Love, Aunt Cheryl
