9-5-24 8 months old came with a setback..

We’re sad to report a big bump in Reese’s journey this week. The blood work results on Tuesday 9/3 were pointing towards possible rejection so he was readmitted to the hospital for further testing. A liver biopsy confirmed moderate rejection and he is now on day two of high dose IV steroids. However, this mornings labs indicate a quick, small decline in liver enzymes which is a hopeful indicator that he is responding well to the steroids. If things continue to improve we may be able to be discharged again on Friday 9/7, but must stay in hospital area until attending out patient liver clinic on Thursday 9/10.

On a positive note, Reese continues to grow, play, and entertain everyone with his adorable blue eyes and sweet smiles. Once again, he celebrated another milestone in the hospital as on 9/4 he turned 8 months old. We’ve heard him say “mama” repeatedly!! We can also add two new bottom teeth to his list of accomplishments!

Ron had a checkup on Wednesday 9/4 and the doctor is still pleased with his recovery. Daddy is anxiously counting down these last two weeks of recovery so he can more fully hold and carry baby Reese again.

As always, thank you all for your prayers and support. We know bumps in the road were a possibility but it is still so frightening and frustrating to hear that word “rejection.” Pray with us that he’s dodging this with early diagnosis and treatment.
