Reese went in for his routine lab work 9/12 and the results showed a significant jump in numbers. We were admitted again that night and a biopsy was done the morning of the 13th. Those results still showed mild to low rejection. Reese will go through another round of high dose IV steroids for 4 days. He’ll have labs done tomorrow and again on Monday to test the trend of his numbers. The doctors will only consider a different immune suppressant drug if the enzymes rise again, as the steroids are the safest option.
We understand that the goal is to save the liver, it is just taking a lot of extra time to get there. We are so blessed that Reese isn’t feeling sickly and is usually in a great mood! He has learned so many things these last few weeks like saying “mama”, eating puffs on his own, and sitting up for longer periods all on his own!
Thank you again for your continued thoughts, prayers, and support during this difficult journey.
