Rough start to 2025..

Tuesday evening, Reese had a light colored poop which immediately concerned Mom & Dad. He had a terrible night sleep so Lexi, Ron, and Reese packed up & went to Chicago at 2:30 a.m.

They did bloodwork and an ultrasound to figure out what was going on. At this point, Reese had an ear infection, rash, and just wasn’t acting himself. His elevated bilirubin count was not going down so they wanted to test his bile ducts with a dye to see if they were draining. He was put under for the procedure on Friday and found he has a slow moving bile duct, almost blockage. Reese had a drain and tube placed in the bile duct. The drain could stay for 2-4 months which is such a long time for a baby on the move with a 6ft cord hanging off of him.

The doctors are reassuring us that this is not rejection but just that the bile ducts are not working. His liver enzymes are better than they have ever been and bilirubin is now .6 which is great. The doctors original plan was to clamp the drain for 24 hours to see if it would start draining on its own, but then he developed a fever around midnight on Saturday night. GI is leaning towards an internal infection because the generic antibiotic doesn’t seem to be breaking the fever and there’s no symptoms of a virus. He has been on IV fluids, antibiotics and IV Tylenol and has been a little more lively. Once the fever is under control, they will attempt to clamp the drain and monitor for 24 hours and then go from there. This was all quite a shock since everything has been going smoothly for so long. Thank you all for the continued thoughts and prayers.
