Many people have been asking: “How did this happen?” Well we finally have an official diagnosis of fulminant Wilson’s Disease. This is an inherited gene disorder that prohibits the body from processing copper. It is pretty rare and manifests differently for people. In Roman’s case it caused his liver to degenerate from the heavy toxins it was trying clear out.
Sadly this also means that his younger brothers are going to need to be tested. We are praying that this disorder did not get passed on to them. It will be many weeks (if not months) before we hear anything back from the Genetics Department at Vanderbilt.
In the meantime Roman is enjoying being home! His little cousins have especially enjoyed having him around.
As always thank you for following along on this journey and for your continued prayers. Please continue sharing this website and our facebook page (COTA for Roman) with friends and family.
