Yesterday we received the wonderful news that a new heart was on its way to Roya! By 10 am this morning she was out of heart transplant surgery and in the Cardiac ICU. (Leap day miracle!) She did GREAT and the surgery was a complete success. Her transplant & care team at Mayo are so amazing! ❤️ We are humbled and so very grateful to the family that lost their child yesterday, and lovingly chose organ donation -ultimately saving Roya’s life. We hope to meet you someday and thank you personally.❤️ She will remain sedated and on a ventilator for a few days, then several weeks on the cardiac unit. Roya will then need to be monitored closely. She and her family are required to stay near the Mayo campus for 3 months. ❤️❤️ This is day one. The beginning, not the finish line. Roya will endure lifelong cardiac care, and multiple heart transplants. It will be a battle, and luckily she is a fighter! Please continue to support Roya & her family in prayer, emotionally, and financially to COTA for Royas Hope as they navigate this new reality. Our deepest gratitude to you all, and please discuss organ donation with your families! 🙏 ❤️ (Photo above is the bucket list she made. We can’t wait for all this, and so much more!)
Praying for little Roya, praying for a full recovery. I’m certain she will see her list come true. Stay strong, take extra good care of yourselves. Sending you so much love, Kim❤️
